FREE BLAST PRO GTX - Orange

Purchased four (4) pairs of these well-made hiking shoes for the fit, sturdiness, and comfort. However, they are waterproof only so far as keeping feet dry; the suede uppers absorb moisture like a sponge, even with multiple applications of Zamberlan's own Hydro Bloc waterproofing spray. Daily walking in wet grass soaks the outside and it takes days for them to dry out indoors, most likely because the Gor-tex barrier prevents them from breathing. The result is mildew-smelling uppers as well as eventual shrinkage in the toe area after a couple of months. That said, the shoes are wonderful for travel and use in dry conditions. Just don't plan on using them in wet or damp conditions.

The boots have good build quality and a solid heel grip. The fit isn’t ideal for wide feet, but adjusting the laces helps. High-volume feet may need more lacing adjustments. The outsole grip is excellent on trails, and the boots have good cushioning. There’s minimal break-in. Breathability is decent. Overall, these dependable boots are built more robustly than average everyday gear.

This is my second pair of Zamberlans and I was not disappointed with the free blast pro gtx. They’re incredibly comfortable and well made. I’m a professional dog trainer and wear these as my everyday shoe. They’re stylish , rugged and durable. Looking forward to many years of use.
As a side note, there was a hiccup with the delivery time and their customer service support was fantastic!

Only my wife gets a 5, but these Blast Pro GTX’s really deserve a 4.9, as they are truly superb. After my last pair of circa 2014, Italy-made Tech Ascent GTX’s WORE-out, and the USA distributor told me I’d have to go to Italy to buy a new pair, I did, but circumstance kept me in Borgo Panigale, and I just couldn’t manage to find a pair in the Bologna area. All that aside two interesting observations about this boots construction and performance. Firstly, I don’t like Goretex linings,- they make boots too hot. But, not with this shoe, which stays surprisingly cool. And, two, the toe box is comfortably wide for an approach shoe, and the lacing gives plenty of tightening ability as required. Negatives? I would have bought the ‘denim’ color, but it turned out the shoes I first bought were almost navy blue, which I think is a function of the strong lighting used to do the catalog photo shoot. So, I ended-up with the orange, which I love, as does everyone who sees them, a nice bold statement! And, lastly, they’re Italian made, which just makes this kid very pleased, because I’m just into the old-fashioned quality ethic, you still don't see coming out of Asia. Excellent hiking shoe and looks great too. Slightly stiff at first but didn’t take more than a day to break in. Walk through wet grass on a regular basis and they stay completely dry!

Size up! I ordered both my recommended size and a half size larger. The recommended pair ran tight, while the larger pair fit like a glove. They performed brilliantly across a 5-day trek with zero comfort issues. Knocking off a point only because I had to pay return shipping on the pair their chart suggested

I followed the Zamberlan suggestion to get a half size smaller and got a 9.5 size. I was a little skeptical but they fit really well. The shoes look good with well made design. The tung is fixed, I would say to give the best waterproofness. So I use a good shoe horn to put them on and I know this is best for preserving the heel area of the upper. They feel very comfortable to walk in and look forward to lots of good service from these shoes.

Zamberlan gets it right again. I have worn hiking boots made by this company for many years and for many years they fit right , right out of the box.These low profile hikers were no exception.It is the fit and the arch support which is remarkable.The fit and finish, gortex , suede and Vibram soles ensure long and comfortable wear.The entry to the boot/hiker is a bit tight but with a shoe horn its good to go.

I have now found my new favorite hiking shoe. The quality of the craftsmanship is superb and the fit is very, very comfortable. I sometimes have difficulty getting the right fit in a shoe, but these are perfect.

I’ve taken these on several long walks/trails and love them. No break-in needed. They are very comfortable right out of the box. I love the mid rise on the ankle. Can’t recall if these some in a non-gortex version which you may want to choose for summer wear, but, not a deal breaker for any season. Buy them.

These are above and beyond the typical hiking shoe. Better fit, better construction and better looks. My wide forefoot and narrow heel loves these boots.

This is my second pair of Zamberlans, the first are my boots and true to form this new pair fit like a glove and are so damn comfortable.
Very happy as expected.
